College Athletes Mental Skills Training Program Process

The first session will include an intake in which Brooke will cover confidentiality and informed consent, administer a formalized assessment as well as a semi-structured interview to develop a better understanding of who the client is: their athletic development, social support system, health, team cohesion, goals, mental skills, and more. After the intake, Brooke will develop a tailored program to fit the client’s needs; target concerns and goals.

Common topics covered in college athlete mental skills training programs are: energy management, goal setting, athletic identity, relaxation techniques, self-talk, concentration, refocus routines, pre-performance routines, imagery and more. Sessions for college athletes normally range from 35-45 minutes (depending on how actively engaged the individual is). These meetings can be held once a week, every other week, or on a flexible timeline to fit your needs.
